Fish vendor dies in San Carlos crash

BACOLOD City – A fish vendor died in a crash that involved two motorcycles around 5:49 p.m. on Nov. 4 at C. L. national highway near the circumferential road in Barangay 5, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Police Superintendent D’Artagnan Katalbas, San Carlos City police head, said that Melchor Bayeta Ortega, 55, married, a fish vendor  of Sitio Trozo in Barangay Buluangan in San Carlos City was declared DOA (dead-on-arrival) by Dr. Romeo Agraviador at San Carlos City Hospital after sustaining serious injuries.

The victim was riding a Motoposh Pinoy 125 driven by Roberto Pasinado Angcon, 46, also a fish vendor, of Sitio Trozo, Barangay Buluangan when they crashed into another motorcycle, a Yamaha SZ150.

The Yamaha motorcycle was being driven by Renato Castellan Alipis, 50, with his wife Verlita Tayactac Alipis, 48, of Hacienda San Jose, Barangay Guadalupe, in the passenger seat.

The couple was traversing south of San Carlos City when they hit from behind the motorcycle Ortega was on at a high speed./PN
