MANILA – Go for Gold-CSB Scratchers clinched a seat in the playoffs round of the 2019 PBA Developmental League after a 119-101 victory over McDavid on Tuesday at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.

Clement Leutcheu and Ilonggo Edward Dixon teamed up in the Scratchers’ early spurt as they took a quick 37-21 advantage before widening it to as huge as 31 markers in the second half.

Leutcheu finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while Dixon scored 10 of his 16 points in that opening frame for the Scratchers, which improved to 6-3 win-loss slate.

Roosevelt Adams chipped in double-double 13 points and 10 rebounds, Justin Gutang had 12 points and six assists, while Jeremiah Pangalangan, Prince Carlos, and James Pasturan all contributed 11 points apiece.

“We’re happy we made it to the quarterfinals,” said Scratchers head coach Charles Tiu. “That’s one of our goals this conference because it’s a very stacked conference.”

Jason Melano led the way with 26 points and seven rebounds, while fellow former PBA cager Jerwin Gaco had 20 markers for McDavid, which exit the eliminations with 1-9 card.

Meanwhile, St. Clare College Virtual Reality Saints also punched its ticket to the quarterfinals after drubbing AMA Online Education Titans, 119-89, behind the exploits of Joshua Fontanilla and Darwin Lunor.

The diminutive Fontanilla fired 11 of his 16 points in the first half, on top of six rebounds and five assists, as Lunor added 13 to his name as well as collecting six boards and three assists for the 6-3 Saints./PN
