KOREAN superstar Gong Yoo is set to visit Manila as part of his 2026 Asian fan meet tour dubbed “The Long Take.”
The announcement was made by Gong’s agency, Management Soop on Instagram, where other Asians stops were also mentioned — Jakarta, Indonesia; Yokohama, Japan; Bangkok, Thailand; Macau, China. He will also have a fan meet in Seoul.
No date has been set yet for the Asian fan meet.
The Instagram invitation also included a handwritten letter from Gong, which read, as translated:
“Every year, I’m deeply touched by the warm birthday wishes you never fail to send me. Thanks to all of you, I’m spending another year filled with gratitude. Because of all of you who have been with me for so long, the time we’ve shared has naturally come back to my mind.
“That’s why, this time, I’ve prepared a place where we can look back on those moments together. I hope we can add another new chapter to the story we’ve been writing together for so long. Until then, I’ll continue doing my best where I am and will come back to you with an even better version of myself,” he said.
A video was likewise shared with a note with these words in Korean: “With all my heart, as always. Let’s definitely meet!!”
Gong is an A-list actor in South Korea, as he starred in some of the top-rating shows, among them “Coffee Prince,” “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” (also known internationally as “Goblin”), and “Squid Game,” and the movie “Train to Busan.”
Management Soop also shared a video of Gong’s letter to fans in Korean, which translated to “Every long take tells a story,” a seeming introduction to his Asian fan meet.
Last March, the Korean network tvN announced that Gong and other “Goblin” stars Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na will host an anniversary special 10 years after the showing of their successful supernatural drama.
Directed by Lee Eung-bok, Kwon Hyuk-chan and Yoon Jong-ho, “Goblin” premiered from December 2016 to January 2017. The K-drama is the first cable drama to exceed 20% in viewership ratings, a feat given that cable dramas in South Korea often receive single-digit ratings.
