Google launches Android Auto in PH

MANILA – Google said Tuesday it rolled out Android Auto in the Philippines, allowing users to call up apps and services while driving.

Android Auto is “optimized for easier and safer driving,” with enlarged touch icons and hands-free voice commands using Google Assistant, Google Philippines said in a statement.

Users can run the app on their device or connect it to their car screen, according to the statement.

“Google worked with top car manufacturers and industry experts to ensure that Android Auto is optimized for easier and safer driving experience,” the company said.

Android Auto can be used with Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, Skype, Android Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, and “hundreds” of other apps, Google said.

Android Auto was released on the Google Play Store last Oct. 31. It can be used with devices running Anrdoid versions Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo and Pie, Google said.

The service is available on over 500 car models in more than 30 countries. (With a report from ABS-CBN/PN)
