ILOILO — This province has become one of the few provinces in the country to achieve 100 percent PhilHealth YAKAP accreditation. All its 43 local government unit (LGU) primary care facilities secured accreditation, significantly expanding access to government-funded primary healthcare services for Ilonggos.
The milestone means residents can now obtain comprehensive outpatient services through accredited primary care facilities in every city and municipality, strengthening the implementation of the Universal Health Care Act.
The Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) said the achievement reflects the collective efforts of the provincial government, municipal and city LGUs, primary care facilities, municipal health offices and healthcare workers.
“With every LGU now recognized as a PhilHealth-accredited YAKAP Provider, Ilonggos can enjoy improved access to comprehensive primary healthcare services, including medical consultations, preventive care, essential laboratory and diagnostic services, selected medicines, and timely referrals bringing quality healthcare closer to every family,” the IPHO said.
PhilHealth’s YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) is the national primary care benefit package that provides comprehensive outpatient services to PhilHealth members and qualified dependents. It aims to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and prevent hospitalization through early detection and management of diseases.
To avail themselves of the benefits, individuals must first obtain a PhilHealth identification number or register with PhilHealth, then choose their preferred YAKAP provider through the eGov application or the nearest PhilHealth office.
The IPHO also thanked the Department of Health, PhilHealth Regional Office VI, local chief executives, city and municipal health offices, healthcare professionals and partner agencies for helping achieve full accreditation./PN
