Gov’t university based in Cadiz cited for stellar performance in teacher’s board

BACOLOD City – The city government of Cadiz in Negros Occidental has commended the exceptional results achieved by Philippine Normal University-Visayas (PNU-V) in the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET), announced on May 24 following the exam on March 17.

PNU-V, a government-run institution based in Cadiz, specializes in education programs.

Cadiz City’s Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. praised PNU-V for its impressive passing rates of 99.03% at the secondary level and 96% at the elementary level, both for first-time takers.

“The performance of PNU-V in the latest Teachers Board Exam is truly remarkable and a source of pride for our community,” said Mayor Escalante.

Renante de la Torre Jr., a PNU-V alumnus who graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education, ranked 10th in the secondary level among 85,980 candidates, achieving a weighted average of 90.80%.

PNU-V also placed fourth nationally among schools with 100 to 299 examinees in the secondary level, recording a passing rate of 96.33% with 105 out of 109 candidates passing.

“The entire Cadiz community is overjoyed with PNU-V’s monumental achievement in the academic field,” Mayor Escalante added.

He expressed his gratitude to PNU-V for its commitment to producing top-quality educators not just for Cadiz, but for the broader Negros Island and beyond.

In related news, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) also highlighted the accomplishments of other PNU campuses. PNU-Manila was named the top performing school in the secondary level category for schools with 300 or more examinees, achieving a 98.96% pass rate. PNU-Mindanao led the category for 100 to 299 examinees with a 98.95% pass rate, closely followed by PNU-Northern Luzon with a 96.98% pass rate.
