ILOILO City – A 16-year-old Grade 11 student who reportedly sold high-grade marijuana to high school peers was taken into police custody late Saturday night, September 26, after being caught with “kush” on San Juan Street, Barangay San Antonio, Molo district.
Police Captain Ryan Christ Inot, officer-in-charge of Iloilo City Police Station 4 (ICPS-4), confirmed that during questioning, the minor suspect identified as alias “John” admitted that his primary customers consisted of fellow students from Iloilo City National High School (ICNHS).
The suspect, a resident of Molo and allegedly the nephew of a barangay captain, was apprehended at around 10 p.m. while ICPS-4 personnel were conducting routine night patrols to enforce local ordinances and discourage minors from loitering in public areas late at night.
According to a K5 News FM Iloilo report, when police officers approached the suspect, he reacted disrespectfully and abruptly dropped a plastic sachet onto the ground.
Police inspected the discarded packet and discovered suspected “kush” with an estimated market value of P4,500.
In response to the incident, Inot appealed to school administration at ICNHS to strengthen monitoring efforts on campus to identify students who may be involved in illicit drug use. He also urged parents to closely supervise their children to foster respect and prevent involvement in illegal activities.
ICPS-4 stated that follow-up operations are currently underway to trace the suppliers and couriers distributing marijuana to youth in the area./PN
