BACOLOD City – Rep. Greg Gasataya wants the National Housing Authority (NHA) to furnish a report about the housing project in Barangay Felisa.
Gasataya said he needs to know the status of the housing project to resolve some issues.
The project is composed of almost 1,500 housing units built on a 10-hectare compound intended for the families of Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel.
It is where a standoff ensued between members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap in Negros Island (Kadamay-Negros) and the Bacolod City Police Office on Thursday morning.
The militants want to occupy the housing units which they said were either abandoned or not used.
Yesterday, Mayor Evelio Leonardia called for a meeting which gathered representatives from Kadamay-Negros and NHA at the Business Inn Hotel.
The NHA did not grant Kadamay-Negros’ request to grant its members’ application as beneficiaries of the housing project.
It added that the housing units were only for PNP and AFP personnel./PN
