MANILA – The NLEX Road Warriors boosted its lineup after acquiring high-scoring guard Carlo Lastimosa in a one-on-one trade with the Blackwater Elite on Wednesday.
In exchange, the Road Warriors shipped reserve forward James Forrester to the Elite along with its second round pick in the 2016 PBA Rookie Draft slated on Sunday at Robinson’s Place in Ermita, Manila.
Road Warriors team manager Ronald Dulatre said that Lastimosa is a welcome addition to the Yeng Guiao-mentored squad, which is lacking a go-to-guy on offense.
“Isa siya sa mga nasa wish list ni coach Yeng,” Dulatre said. “When we did our team assessment, isa sa mga kulang namin ‘yung go-to-guy sa opensa and Carlo is fit to that role.”
Elite team manager Johnson Martinez said the team is also glad to acquire Forrester, who failed to blossom his career while playing for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, Barako Bull Energy Cola and the Road Warriors.
“James is a young player at pwede siyang ma-develop to a defensive forward,” Martinez said. “Hindi kasi mag-fit sa defensive style ni coach Leo (Isaac) si Carlo.”
Lastimosa had a career-best season with the Elite where he averaged 18 points, 3 rebounds and two assists, while Forrester was relegated to the bench with the Energy Cola and Road Warriors./PN
