GUIMARAS – In anticipation of increased passenger traffic during this year’s Manggahan Festival, the Guimaras Provincial Government, in coordination with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), has announced extended nighttime operations for sea transport services.
The extension, which covers both motorboats and roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels, is effective from May 16 to May 25, 2025.
Nighttime trips will serve the following key routes:
* Jordan, Guimaras – Iloilo City and vice versa
*Buenavista, Guimaras – Iloilo City and vice versa
Under the new schedule, motorboat services will operate until 2 a.m. (extended from the usual 10 p.m.) and RoRo vessels will run until 12 midnight (from the previous 7 p.m. cutoff)
This initiative aims to accommodate the surge of festival goers and tourists visiting the province for the highly anticipated Manggahan Festival, a week-long celebration of Guimaras’ cultural heritage and agricultural abundance — particularly its world-renowned mangoes.
A major highlight of the festival is the crowd-favorite “Mango-Eat-All-You-Can” event, where attendees can feast on unlimited ripe mangoes for 30 minutes at a nominal fee of P100.
Other key events include music festival, cultural and street dance competition, various sports tournaments and exhibitions, agri-fishery fair, the Mr. and Miss Guimaras beauty pageant, Kabataan (Youth) Day, government services fair, Farmers and Fisherfolk Day, and the culminating Provincehood Night.
The extended transportation schedule is part of the province’s commitment to ensuring smooth and safe mobility for both locals and visitors during one of the region’s most vibrant cultural celebrations./PN
