GUIMARAS – Preparation is ongoing for the crafting of the six-year development plan for children of this province.
The provincial government through the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) recently conducted a workshop at Nueva Valencia Multi-Purpose Cooperative Hall in Barangay Concordia, Jordan town. Aside from PCPC members, representatives from other government agencies, municipal health officers, and social welfare officers from the province’s five municipalities attended the workshop.
Cecile C. Gumarin, PCPC co-chairperson, said the workshop was an opportunity to assess the success of the province’s current plan and to determine additional programs to be implemented for the welfare of Guimaras children.
“In 2022, the province has approved its development plan for children. It is implementable until 2025. From the previous document, we could see the progress sang aton mga kabataan or ang effect sang aton plan for children sa probinsiya kag sa mga municipalities. Diri mabasehan naton kun ano pa gid ang kulang, ano pa gid ang dapat naton nga ubrahon para sa development pa sang aton mga kabataan,” she said.
Franz Hermocillas, coordinator of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 6’s Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children, served as resource person and coached the participants with the step-by-step process of crafting the Children Development Plan and its implementation.
The Local Development Plan for Children will serve as PCPC’s blueprint in implementing projects, programs, and activities for the welfare of children in the province./PN
