KALIBO, Aklan – A councilor from the island province of Guimaras was elected chairwoman of the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) Western Visayas.
Ma. Sheila Gange of Jordan town ran unopposed. She will serve for three years, or until 2019.
Julius Cezar Tajanlangit of Tobias Fornier, Antique was chose league vice chairman during the election on Friday, Nov. 18 in Bohol. He was unopposed, too.
Teddy Tupas of Banga, Aklan (PCL-Aklan president) was elected secretary-general; Arvin Losaria of Lambunao, Iloilo (PCL-Iloilo secretary-general), treasurer; Elmer Arevalo of Mambusao, Capiz (PCL-Capiz president), auditor; and Lawrence Anthony Gorriceta of Pavia, Iloilo (PCL-Iloilo public relations officer, or PRO), PRO.
Elected into the Board of Directors were Salvador Tenazas (Makato, Aklan); Raymond Malapajo (Maayon, Capiz); Annabelle Samaniego (Sibunag, Guimaras); Marilyn Edang (Nueva Valencia, Guimaras); Ferdinand Baguio (Sapian, Capiz); Mark Quimpo (Kalibo, Aklan); Erich Alocilja (San Jose, Antique); and Samuel Delos Reyes and Precious Grace Panizales (San Enrique, Iloilo).
Around 60 provincial chapter officers gathered in Bohol from Nov. 18 to 20 for the election facilitated by PCL Commission on Elections chairman Cedric Jaranila, Councilor Licurdo Tirador (Pototan, Iloilo) and Mitchelle John Patricio (Pilar, Capiz), interim regional president.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 016-87 issued on June 23, the Department of the Interior and Local Government mandated all PCL regional chairpersons to convene all provincial federation and city chapter officers to elect among themselves the regional officers within 90 days after the federation and chapter elections.
