Guns, bullets seized from Isabela mayor’s escorts

BACOLOD City – Three bodyguards of Mayor Joselito Malabor were arrested for violating the election gun ban in Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Municipal police station chief Captain Roger Pama identified them as retired Master Sergeant Alexander Ferrer, former soldier Florentino Lupio and Dominque Yanson.

They were nabbed on the strength of a search warrant around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Joint forces of the Negros Provincial Police Office and Isabela municipal police station staged the operation that led to the confiscation of a .45-caliber gun (serial number 7790314); two magazines with 16 live bullets; a bullet of .45-caliber in chamber; two magazines of Thompson; .45-caliber gun with magazine; 17 live bullets; 36 live bullets of Thompson and two magazines of Thompson.

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office director Colonel Romeo Baleros said the operation is part of the imposition of the Commission on Elections gun ban regulations.

The suspects were detained in the municipal police station’s custodial facility, facing charges./PN
