Haiku and poems from the novel ‘Darkquake’, 1

(Tome1. Compendium 1. Narrative Poems)

DARKQUAKE is a fictional novel, in several tomes, written by myself. Tome 1 is complete. The rest are in the making. It has a lot of parallels and truths applicable to our world.

In the planet Tera, an unnatural phenomenon called the Great Darkquake has transformed the globe into a world of preternatural human maestros with their unnatural Dark seals and their preternaturally created Dark avatars. There are paranormal and supernatural phenomenon – demons, revenants and mythical creatures, and incarnated cosmically powerfully beings; side by side with advanced science, genetically engineered human and cyborg races, a hydrogen economy, little pollution, minimal human-made greenhouse gases, unlimited energy, and a burgeoning population. Smaller Darkquakes regularly occur, that still bring invading Darklings (that act like the supernaturally powerful Demons of traditional religions, legends, and myths) from across the Multiverse to threaten the world order, forcing humanity to eternally subsume themselves to a planetary junta with absolute political powers, and its world government whose primary aim is to defend the planet against the Dark.

Yet the mundane natural Pre-Darkquake world continues to exist, with all its politico- socio-economic issues having been pushed to the extreme. The extreme unitarianism of Nation-States, organized in an authoritarian global society, under the absolutist planetary junta, prevail with its logical consequences. The formation of extremist nationalist states, totalitarian theocracies, dictatorships, authoritarian police states masquerading as democracies and republics. The colonialism of internal provinces by giant primate cities. The death of the identities of the minority ethnolinguistic peoples of the world. The exploitation of the peripheries and their economies, institutions, intellectuals, manpower, women, children. The oppression of any dissent. In this strange world, Orders of Sealed Maestros and their Dark avatars, themselves unnatural, fight to fend off the unnatural.

Yet one unusual Order, that of the Sun and Sky – and its three humans, unnatural Dark avatars, and four incarnate cosmic beings – have dedicated themselves to the partitioning of the colossal States into small societies of democratic and libertarian nature, foregoing any unnatural power and ability in the pursuit of their ideals. In a world where might-is-right is a correct attitude and totalitarianism is a rightly norm, such a cause is deemed anarchical and secessionist, can hardly be comprehended at all, and is legally punishable by death.

Included in this compendium are some of the haiku and poems found in Darkquake. They are indispensable parts in the narration as they help to elucidate the complicated emotions, the anguish, the passion, the struggles and the dauntless bravery of the characters.

Some characters:

Sri Maestro Dúro Sol-Cielo y Anachronista is the head of the Order of the Sun and Sky. Sri Duro is an Anachronista, previously occurring in the Great Dark Quake era, and then displaced temporally centuries into the here and now of Tera. He carries the Dark Seal of his Order, which enables him to create Dark avatars.

Elam Sol-Cielo y Anachronista is a human Anachronista, a being suddenly Occurring in a specific setting in the Multiverse out of the proverbial nowhere, stitched from personalities from different Realities. He is anatomically and physiologically a 12 year old boy in his present incarnation, but with partial memories of several adults. He has no Seal but is considered an oracle by the Order. He is an adoptee of Duro. (To be continued)/PN
