BACOLOD City – A 10-year-old girl was found dead in a sugarcane field in Barangay San Miguel, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The victim, whose name was withheld by authorities, was found lying half-naked around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, almost five hours after she was reported missing.
Murcia police station chief Major Robert Dejucos said the girl, a Grade 5 student, sustained head injuries and broken bones. The victim’s neck also showed signs that she was choked to death.
According to Dejucos, the girl went missing after she left her sister’s house around 4:20 p.m. to buy frozen food for their dinner. He believed that the victim could have been killed somewhere else and dumped in the area. Her underwear and pair of shorts lay strewn beside her body, leading the police to suspect she was raped.
Dejucos said that they are currently eyeing three suspects in the incident. He disclosed that prior to the incident, the victim was allegedly told by an unknown man to watch a pornographic video./PN
