BACOLOD City – Barangay officials were reminded to help fund the government’s antidrug campaign.
Section 51 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 provides that all local government units (LGUs) shall allot a substantial portion of their respective annual budgets for the enforcement of the law, said Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Negros Island Region director Roselyn Borja.
Borja attended the meeting of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) and the 61 Barangay ADACs on May 4.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bacolod City head Carmelo Orbista discussed DILG Memorandum Circular No. 64 on the compliance of LGUs with its peace and order and illegal drug-related issuances.
Borja also discussed Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3 on strengthening barangay drug-clearing operations.
Moreover, the CADAC reminded the BADACs to cooperate and do their best to effectively contribute to the antidrug drive.
The BADACs are also expected to submit monthly reports of their antidrug activities to the DILG, said the CADAC.
