MANILA – PLDT High Speed Hitters erased the sting of their winless start in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference, overpowering ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, 25-20, 25-18, 25-16, on Thursday at the Santiago Sports Arena in Santiago, Isabela, for their second consecutive victory.
After dropping their first two assignments, the High Speed Hitters climbed to an even 2-2 record behind a balanced offense and disciplined floor defense that kept the Thunderbelles struggling throughout the straight-set encounter.
Savannah Davison spearheaded PLDT’s attack with 13 points built on 12 attacks and one block, while adding nine excellent receptions to claim Player of the Game honors.
Setter Angelica Araneta delivered 13 excellent sets to direct PLDT’s offense, while libero Kath Arado anchored the defense with 13 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions.
The victory followed PLDT’s breakthrough win over Capital1 last Saturday, strengthening the High Speed Hitters’ bid to recover from their sluggish conference start.
ZUS Coffee, meanwhile, remained winless in four matches, joining Galeries Tower at the bottom of the standings with identical 0-4 records.
Zam Nolasco led the Thunderbelles with nine points, but her efforts proved insufficient against PLDT’s sustained offensive pressure.
Meanwhile, Creamline Cool Smashers seized sole possession of the top spot after extending their unbeaten run to four matches with a 25-18, 31-29, 25-16 victory over Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers.
Jema Galanza powered Creamline with 16 points and 11 excellent receptions to earn Best Player of the Game honors, while Bernadeth Pons contributed 11 points off the bench.
The Cool Smashers overcame a stubborn Capital1 challenge in the extended second set before completing the sweep to improve their record to 4-0./PN
