ILOILO City – Police arrested a “high-value” drug suspect in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tagbak, Jaro district.

The 42-year-old Henjie Epat was a resident of Zone 2 in Barangay Poblacion, Estancia, Iloilo.

Epat was nabbed by operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office’s (IPPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICDEU).

He did not know he was being subjected to an entrapment by the PDEU at around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday. An undercover police officer transacted from him P25,000 worth of shabu.

Police Lieutenant Feliciano Sedotes, ICDEU chief, said the suspect was placed under surveillance for over two weeks prior to yesterday’s buy-bust.

Police recovered four sachets of suspected shabu valued at P140,000 in all, said Sedotes.

“Aside from selling, he is also using illegal drugs. We are conducting tactical interrogation to get more details,” said Sedotes.

The police official believed that Epat got his supply from Manila and shifted these through local ports.

The suspect – detained in the lockup cell of the Jaro police station – faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
