MANILA – Soldiers and police officers will get higher salaries if the proposal of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) gets approved.
The DBM said the plan to raise the pay of Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police officers needs Congress’ approval.
A rookie police officer could get an annual compensation of P474,625, up from the current P118,335, while a private receiving P342,936 annually could get P436,138, according to the agency.
The Duterte government has promised to increase the compensation and benefits of uniformed personnel.
Soldiers and police officers got higher benefits to supplement their allowances after Duterte signed Executive Order No. 3 in September 2016.
“The proposed base pay hike is on top of the second tranche of the Salary Standardization (Executive Order No. 201, s. 2016) that will increase the compensation of government employees, including military and uniformed personnel,” said the DBM./PN
