PNP: Preparation for May 12 elections ‘100% complete’

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) claimed their preparation for the midterm elections on Monday, May 12, is now 100 percent complete.

According to PNP chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil, every plan that would ensure a peaceful and orderly elections is in place such as deploying around 163,000 police personnel across the country.

“One hundred percent na kami, kumpleto,” Marbil said in an interview at the PNP Media Action Center at Camp Crame’s Command Center.

Marbil added that the PNP’s goal is zero violence on election day and that they have not monitored any threat.

“We have a goal – really zero violence. We want to make sure this midterm election will be honest, orderly, and peaceful. Our goal is that people can vote freely,” Marbil said.

The PNP chief also stated that police regional offices (PROs) have commenced send-off ceremonies for the deployment of police personnel to their designated polling precincts and areas of concern.

Meanwhile, Marbil has also encouraged the public to report any incident, including vote buying, using the PNP’s upgraded E-911 hotline.

He also reminded all PNP personnel to remain apolitical, saying anyone caught engaging in partisan activities will face immediate disciplinary action and possible dismissal from the service./PN
