BACOLOD City – The mayor and vice mayor of Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental became the latest local chief executives to fall ill to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Mayor Raymund Tongson said he and Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao received the results of their swab tests yesterday morning, and both tested positive.
Tongson said he and Gatuslao were exhibiting mild symptoms, and both of them were now in isolation.
All of the city councilors have also undergone swab tests and will be receiving their own results, today.
Tongson reminded city residents to be responsible and continue observing proper health protocols.
Earlier this week, the town mayor of Murcia and several other Sangguniang Bayan members also fell ill to COVID-19./PN
