BACOLOD City – Jeffrei Chan is coming home. The Bacolodnon sharpshooter will headline the Gilas Legends in the “Legends Rise: MassKara Gugma All-Star Exhibition Game,” the crown jewel of the MassKaralympics 2025 that promises to electrify this year’s MassKara Festival.
Chan, once the reliable gunner of Gilas Pilipinas, will share the floor with Philippine basketball greats Marc Pingris, Dondon Hontiveros, Gary David, Arwind Santos, Ranidel De Ocampo, Cyrus Baguio, Willie Miller, Ryan Reyes, and Asi Taulava in what organizers are billing as the festival’s sporting centerpiece.
Festival director Rodney Ascalon said Chan’s return to Bacolod with the Gilas icons will make the event unforgettable.
“It’s not just about competition; it’s about celebrating community, unity, and the enduring Bacolodnon spirit of resilience and joy,” he said.
The MassKaralympics will also feature the 1st Mayor Greg Gasataya MassKara Volleyball Cup, the 4th MassKara Tchoukball Tournament, MassKaRun, Bike, and Zumba, the 1st Mayor Greg Gasataya MassKara Pickleball Tournament, and the 1st MassKara 3×3 Basketball Tournament.
Adding to the excitement are the 1st Mayor Greg Gasataya MassKara Football Cup, BMX and Skateboard Competitions spotlighting Bacolod’s own Motic Panugalinog and Guetler Mariano, and the City of Smiles International Marathon.
Events will unfold across the city’s prime venues, including the USLS Coliseum, Montalbo Gym, Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club, Bacolod Skate Park, and the Provincial Capitol Lagoon.
With local athletes going side by side with national icons, the MassKaralympics 2025 is set to bring the city’s festive spirit to an all-time high./PN
