Hospitals brace for ‘Undas’ emergencies

ILOILO – As Ilonggos get busy preparing for “Undas” or All Saints’ Day (Nov. 1) and All Souls’ Day (Nov. 2), the Provincial Health Office (PHO) placed district hospitals on “code white alert.”

The hospitals’ personnel must be prepared and their equipment ready to respond to medical emergencies, according to PHO’s Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon.

The provincial government manages the following hospitals:

Of particular concern to the PHO is road safety. Quiñon appealed to all drivers to observe moderate speed to avoid vehicular accidents.

Food safety is another area of concern. Quiñon said people must be mindful of the food they eat and their hygiene to avoid poisoning, noting that some have the habit of holding picnics in cemeteries.

“Make sure nga ang ginadala nga pagkaon safe. Also, panghinaw gid sang kamot antes magpreparar sang pagkaon, kapin pa kun halin sa comfort room,” stressed Quiñon.

She also urged people to avoid heat exhaustion when visiting cemeteries by bringing umbrellas and clean, bottled water./PN
