House OKs bill establishing CHED office in Bacolod City

Bacolod City – The 17th Congress of the House of Representatives approved for the third and final reading House Bill No. 4958, establishing the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) provincial office here.

Congressman Greg Gasataya, author of the bill, said it was approved in the Congress recently and is now pending in the Senate.

“A CHED office situated in this capital city will allow a relative large number of college students to easily avail of any academic grants that CHED may offer,” he added.

Negros Occidental has 60 colleges and universities, 25 of which in this capital city, Gasataya said.

He added the CHED-Negros Occidental provincial office will expedite the processing of Special Orders and other requirements pertinent to the taking of professional board exams and bar exams and the reduction of the inevitable processing expenses.

He said its accessibility will benefit thousands of tertiary students, teachers and the academe in general./PN
