KALIBO, Aklan – The Municipal Health Office is being urged to conduct house-to-house vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Persons with disabilities and senior citizens are the targets of the proposal.
The Department of Health has already allowed door-to-door vaccination on individuals unable to go to vaccination centers, according to Sangguniang Bayan member Augusto Tolentino.
Kalibo, which has 16 barangays, has two vaccination centers in barangays Poblacion and Old Buswang.
“Dapat may house-to-house vaccination lalo na sa mga senior citizens. Kailangang ilista ng ating mga barangay health workers ang mga residente upang mapuntahan ng vaccination teams,” Tolentino stressed.
Many are unvaccinated and confined to their homes because they have chronic diseases and/or bedridden, he lamented.
Suggested activities prior to the vaccination of these people are screening and counseling, then after the vaccination there must be post-monitoring.
To date, the province of Aklan had fully inoculated 44,565 individuals./PN
