BACOLOD City – To hasten herd immunity against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here, the city government is bringing the vaccines to houses.
Seven Bacolod barangays with high COVID-19 cases are being prioritized: Mansilingan, Taculing, Tangub, Estefania, Villamonte, Mandalagan, and Alijis.
The home vaccination began on Wednesday, according to the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), and being implemented in coordination with village chiefs and their respective barangay health and emergency response teams (BHERTs).
The intensified house-to-house vaccination drive involves the city’s “VAX-i” mobile buses.
The city’s goal is to make COVID-19 vaccines more accessible to everyone, said Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
As of Oct. 16, a total of 213,828 Bacolodnons already received anti-COVID shots, 157,825 of which were fully vaccinated.
After a dialogue with the officials and cluster heads of the EOC-TF, barangay officials vowed to strictly monitor patients under home isolation as well as the sealed-off homes of close contacts.
They also promised to strengthen the monitoring and enforcement of the minimum health protocols, and to intensify information and education campaign on COVID-19 vaccination.(with Bacolod City PIO/PN)
