HOUSTON Rockets finally broke into the win column of the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season after a 137-109 rout of the winless Brooklyn Nets on Monday night (Tuesday in the Philippines) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Tari Eason came off the bench to score 22 points on five three-pointers, while Alperen Sengun added 21 points, six rebounds, and six assists as the Rockets improved to 1-2.
Kevin Durant contributed 19 points against his former team, Reed Sheppard added 15 points and eight assists, Amen Thompson chipped in 12 points and eight assists, while Jabari Smith Jr. and Josh Okogie had 11 and 10.
Houston, which dropped close contests to Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons to open the season, dominated from start to finish to erect a 42-25 lead in the second quarter.
The Rockets then pulled away further with a 32-17 third quarter that pushed the advantage to 103-77 entering the fourth. Houston led by as many as 33 points in the final period.
Terance Mann finished with 21 points, Michael Porter Jr. had 18, and Day’Ron Sharpe posted 17 points and 12 rebounds off the bench as the Nets dropped to 0-4 following a sluggish back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, San Antonio Spurs stretched their unbeaten record to four games following a 121-103 victory over Toronto Raptors (1-3) at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Victor Wembanyama spearheaded the attack anew with a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds along with four assists, one steal, and a block for the streaking Spurs.
Stephon Castle added 22 markers, Harrison Barnes and Devin Vassell chipped in 18 and 15 markers, respectively, while Filipino-American rookie Dylan Harper tallied 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder (4-0) also kept their unbeaten record intact following a 101-94 win over Dallas Mavericks (1-3). Shai Gilgeous-Alexander paced the Thunder with 23 points./PN
