Hua Siong vs San Agustin in ILOPRISAA elementary boys hoops finals

HUA SIONG College of Iloilo and University of San Agustin advanced to the finals of the 2018 Iloilo PRISAA Meet elementary boys basketball after beating their semifinal round contenders at the Iloilo Sports Complex gym.

Hua Siong entered the final round after clobbering PAREF-Westbridge School for Boys 89-46 Monday. Jake Andrei Guarra led the way with 22 points while Paul Niño Balledos added 12 markers for the winning team.

San Agustin, for its part, went on a 5-0 run late in the match to escape with a 54-49 win over Ateneo de Iloilo. Clark John Salvania finished with 17 markers for San Agustin.

Hua Siong and San Agustin were playing in a one-game championship round as of press time. Likewise, Westbridge and Ateneo were battling for third place.

COLLEGE HOOPS

Meanwhile San Agustin, defending champion in tertiary men’s basketball, made a return trip to the final round with a 91-90 escape from Western Institute of Technology behind the game-winning triple of Karl Malco.

Trailing 88-90 with four seconds remaining, Malco drained the go-ahead triple at the buzzer to send San Agustin to the championship round. Malco topped the scoring with 22 points.

John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University captured the other finals seat after a 79-68 win over Central Philippine University. Fritchard Dulce had 26 points for John B.

In tertiary women WIT claimed the title after a 66-57 win over CPU. Ruby Jean de Asis had 15 points while Janica Francisco had 14 markers for WIT./PN
