SAN JOSE, Antique – Temporarily, the memorabilia of the late Antique governor Evelio B. Javier will be placed at the Integrated Bar of the Philippines building in this town.
There will be retrofitting and rehabilitation works at the old provincial capitol building where the items are housed.
Provincial Tourism Officer Jose Ramlo Villaluna shall lead the inventory and transfer of the memorabilia.
“The contractor is asking for the transfer of the memorabilia so they could start working,” said Acting Governor Edgar Denosta.
The Javier memorabilia will be the last items to be transferred, Denosta said.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) moved its offices temporarily, too, on Feb. 1 to a rented building, where they will also hold regular sessions on Thursdays for now.
The SP requested the rehabilitation work at the old capitol through Sen. Loren Legarda, who led a groundbreaking for the project on Jan. 10. The Department of Public Works and Highways is funding the project, which has a P50-million budget.
“After its retrofitting, the old capitol will be used as museum, library and archive,” Denosta said.
Another P50 million was allotted for the construction of a three-story legislative building behind the old capitol, said the acting governor.
Construction work on the new legislative building is estimated at 5 percent. The structure is expected to be completed within the year. (PNA)
