ILOILO City — The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) seized P2.3 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested nine individuals during a series of intensified operations across the city from April 21 to 22.
Records from the ICPO showed that the two-day anti-drug campaign began at 12:01 a.m. on April 21 in Barangay Simon Ledesma, Jaro district, where personnel arrested 37-year-old alis “Pani” and 64-year-old alias “Wela.” Police recovered 70 grams of suspected shabu approximately valued at P476,000.
Later that afternoon at 5:10 p.m., alias “Errol,” 36, of Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district, was arrested via a warrant for a prior drug offense. During the arrest, he yielded P680,000 worth of alleged shabu.
The evening continued with a buy-bust at 9:25 p.m. in Barangay Tanza-Esperanza, City Proper, leading to the arrest of 22-year-old alias “Akit,” who was found with five grams of suspected shabu worth P34,000. An hour later, alias “Sam,” 42, was apprehended in Barangay San Vicente, Jaro, also in possession of five grams of suspected shabu worth P34,000.
The largest single recovery occurred at 2:15 a.m. on April 11 in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao. Police arrested 36-year-old alias “Harry” after seizing 160 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1.088 million.
At 8:47 p.m. in Barangay West Habog-Habog, Molo district, two grams of alleged shabu worth P13,600 were recovered from aliases “Toto Greg,” 20, and “Jolo,” 52.
The final operation took place in Barangay San Jose, Arevalo district, where alias “Minik,” 21, a resident of Capiz province, was arrested with three grams of shabu worth P20,400.
All suspects were detained, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, ICPO director, commended the operating units for their consistent performance.
