ICPO reports 70% drop in theft cases

ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) noted a 70-percent in theft cases – six – from March 16 to 22 this year compared to the 20 cases recorded during the same period last year.

It also observed a decrease in physical injury cases – seven during the period. This was 56.25 percent lower than last year’s 16 cases.

The city police recorded a total of 16 index crimes – lower by 56.75 percent compared to the 37 index crimes last year.

As defined by the Philippine National Police, index crimes are crimes against persons such as murder, homicide, rape, and physical injury; and crimes against property such as theft, robbery and carnapping.

The ICPO so far recorded 61 crimes this year – 38.38-percent lower than the 99 crimes reported in the same period last year.

ICPO operations chief Superintendent Jowel Saliba reminded police stations to bolster police visibility in their areas of jurisdiction, especially in places of convergence this summer season.
