ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) had intensified its operations against street-level and high-value individuals leading to the seizure of 4,813 grams of shabu valued at around P32.7 million in a month of operation.
Record from ICPO further showed that for the whole month of October, a total of 56 operations also resulted to the arrest of 82 drug peddlers.
ICPO director Colonel Kim Legada said all police chiefs responded to his order to run after both street-level and high-value drug targets in order to cripple their operations.
“We are now intensifying our operations against all drug peddlers who are operating in our area. We have to run after either street-level or high-value individuals as long as they possess illegal drugs. We are thankful for the help of the community for giving us information on the presence of drug pushers in their respective area,” Legada told Panay News.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) scored the biggest volume of drug seizure at approximately 2,610 grams of shabu worth P17,748,000 from eight operations. They also collared 13 high-value individuals.
Among the city’s 10 police stations, Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1) confiscated the largest volume – 668 grams of shabu approximately valued at P4,542,400.
Legada lauded the operatives for their sustained, focused and relentless efforts in the fight against illegal drugs.
“These achievements reflect your dedication and commitment to your sworn duties to protect our community from the harms of illegal drugs. Let us continue building strong trust and confidence with our community as we work toward a drug-free city. Unity is key as we triumph in our fight against the drugs that harm our society,” said Legada.
All suspects are now under police custody. They were charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
