ILOILO City – Iloilo Doctors College Medics turned back University of San Agustin Golden Eagles, 81-72, in the do-or-die Game 3 of the ILOPRISAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Finals on Wednesday night at the USA Gymnasium here.

The victory allowed the Medics to complete their turnaround in the best-of-three championship series after losing Game 1 to the Golden Eagles before bouncing back in Game 2.

The Medics found themselves trailing by five points after the first and second quarter before making a run in the third frame to take a slim two-point advantage entering the fourth quarter.

In the final period, the Medics waxed hot offensively as they established a nine-point lead midway through the quarter before preserving the winning margin the rest of the way.

“Since Day 1, nag-focus gid kami sa depensa namon, sa chemistry, kag sa sistema. Buligay lang kami tanan kag salig sa amon teammates,” said Medics team captain Gian Paul Nahine.

“Sadya kay wala namon gin-expect nga makasaka kami subong sa finals kay napirdi kami sa CPU (Central Philippine University). So, nagtinguha man kami nga maka-number one sa double-round elimination, kag subong amo na, nakuha namon ang championship title,” added Elmer Malan Jr., who was named MVP.

With the championship, the Medics is representing ILOPRISAA in the Western Visayas Private Schools Athletics Association Meet 2025 taking place from February 21 to 24 in Roxas City, Capiz.

Meanwhile, Iloilo Doctor’s College Medics’ high school girls volleyball team claimed the championship in the Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet 2025 secondary girls volleyball competition.

The Medics claimed the crown after defeating the Leon National High School in a tightly-contested finale game at the John B. Lacson-Foundation Maritime University Gymnasium.

With the victory the Medics are representing ILOPRISAA in the WVRAA Meet slated next month in Antique./PN
