ILOILO City – Less than 400 downtown food kiosks would be made available for the January 2020 Dinagyang Festival – a sharp drop from the 1,500 food kiosks rented out in January this year.

The area for the annual Dinagyang “Ilonggo Food Festival” next year would be confined within the “downtown’s triangle” of Iznart, Aldeguer and Arsenal Streets only, thus the reduction in the number of food kiosks, according to Philipp Chua, in-charge of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc.’s kiosk committee.

Delgado Street, on the other hand, would be for members of the Iloilo Hotels Resorts and Restaurants Association.

Some downtown streets must be free from kiosks for the easy passage of spectators and Dinagyang tribes, explained Chua, such as Bonifacio Drive (from Forbes Bridge down to the Atrium Area), Valeria and Quezon streets.

But Chua said the committee may be considering portions of Guanco, Solis and Ledesma streets, too, for food kiosls

The Dinagyang 2020 “Ilonggo Food Festival” will be from Jan. 23 to 26.

The kiosk “selling fee” is P5,000.

Selling starts on Nov. 29 on a first come, first served basis, said Chua.

Ambulant vendors, on the other hand, would be regulated.

“Last year nag-cause gid sila obstruction. Indi kaagi mga tribu kay ara sila. Dapat indi sila sa area nga maka-impede,” said Chua./PN
