BACOLOD City – Police caught nine persons engaged in illegal gambling in Barangay Vista Alegre.
They were residents Jeffrey Alfonso, Jameson Catape, Joar Abdon, Joan Praga, Cherryl Billones, Mary Joy Miola, Reyna Mae Cubos, Godfrey Ramos, and Mery Jane Marañon, a police report showed.
The suspects were nabbed when police chanced upon them playing tong-its and mahjong around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, the report added.
Recovered from them were P278 bet money, a deck of playing cards and mahjong tiles.
The nine were all taken to the Police Station 7 custodial facility, facing charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602 that outlaws illegal gambling./PN
