ILOILO – To boost family welfare and youth empowerment in Iloilo’s upland towns, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. turned over P5 million to the municipal government of Lambunao for the construction of a two-storey Family and Youth Development Center (FYDC).
Mayor Reynor Gonzales personally received the check from the governor during a turnover held on June 9 at the capitol.
The project is a priority under the Iloilo Provincial Government’s MoRProGRes agenda (Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive, and Resilient Province of Iloilo), with implementation led by the Provincial Population Office (PPO) headed by Atty. Ruel Von Superio.
The center will serve as a hub for the municipality’s key family and youth-oriented services and initiatives. It is designed to host Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling (PMOC) sessions, skills training, and youth development activities.
It will also house offices for population workers and youth councils, including the Sangguniang Kabataan and the Local Youth Development Council.
The FYDC is part of Iloilo’s continuing innovation in delivering Responsible Parenthood and Adolescent Health and Youth Development Programs at the local level, PPO officials said.
Joining the turnover ceremony were PPO Supervising Administrative Officer Ma. Hayde Padilla, Development Management Division chief Maria Shalene Hidalgo, Field Operations Division Chief Janel Alegata, and other PPO personnel./PN
