ILOILO – To arrest the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. ordered the closure of cemeteries and columbaria in this province from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.
“Puede man kita makabisita sa iban nga inadlaw,” said Defensor. “It is necessary to implement additional and adjusted community quarantine measures during ‘Undas’, considering the anticipated customary gatherings that may transpire.”
However, the conduct of wakes and funerals is allowed in the said period provided that attendees adhere to the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID), Defensor clarified.
“Visitors shall be limited to not more than 10 persons per group and not exceeding 30 percent of the venue capacity,” Defensor said.
They must also observe the minimum health protocols such as the wearing of facemask and face shield, hand washing and physical distancing.
Local taskforces are also enjoined to conduct patrolling and inspection and exercise visitorial power to enforce the community quarantine measures.
As of Oct. 25, the province had 34,225 total confirmed cases – 1,812 active, 31,458 recovered and 955 deaths./PN
