ILOILO City – This city and two municipalities in Iloilo province bagged major awards during the 46th Philippine Business Conference organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Oct. 8.
The town of Mina, Iloilo under Mayor Rey Grabato was named Most Business-Friendly LGU in the Municipality Level, for 3rd to 5th Classes Category, in the entire Philippines.
The municipality of Concepcion under Mayor Raul Banias was given a special citation in the same category.
Iloilo City, on the other hand, was the only local government unit in the Visayas to be awarded Special Recognition in the Most Business-Friendly LGUs outside of Metro Manila.
“I am happy to share to the Ilonggos that even in the midst of this pandemic, Iloilo City was again awarded a citation from Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry as one of the Most Business Friendly LGU and the only one in Visayas,” said Treñas.
He added: “This pandemic may be an obstacle for my dreams and aspirations for our beloved city but it won’t stop me for doing my best in serving my fellow Ilonggos. And I couldn’t have done it without the help and support of the Ilonggos and the business sector.”
PCCI-Iloilo Chapter headed by its Chairman Dr. Sandra S. Gomez and President Atty. Jobert Penaflorida was likewise given a special recognition for its regional response to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Various outreach activities were undertaken by the Iloilo Chapter, with its Treasurer, Maritess Lim, as lead person.
Banias, meanwhile, cited the efforts of local businesses, especially the “Mercado on Wheels, Mercado on a Boat” during the pandemic.
Banias thanked his staff and the Negosyo Center for packaging the town’s entry./PN
