ILOILO City – The Office of the Ombudsman Regional Office 6 has started the city government’s re-assessment for the Blue Certification Level III.
This time, the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) is aiming to achieve a higher level of standard.
“We were given Level II certification in October 2015. This 2018, the Office of the Ombudsman conducted a re-assessment to check if we have sustained the categories and standards we have complied and if we are ready for the next level,” said BPLO chief Norman Tabud.
As of now, only Iloilo City and Cagayan de Oro have reached Level II.
“So if we will get this award, we will be the first local government unit to achieve it. And it also means that we are compliant with the standards set by the national government particularly by the Ombudsman,” said Tabud.
The Ombudsman aims to ensure that BPLOs in the country is compliant with the 87 standards they set to streamline Business Processing System.
The eight categories were:
* Application Form which comprises six standards
* Requirements with 16 standards
* Procedure with 13 standards
* IT-Enabled System with nine standards
* Citizen’s Charter with six standards
* Customer Convenience with 12 standards
* Anti-Fixing Mechanism with 12 standards
* Business Permit with six standards, and
* Continuous Improvement with seven standards.
“Although I think we already surpassed the 78 requirements of Ombudsman, we are still working hard to reach the next level. The city government needs to achieve at least 90 percent or 78 of the standards and at least half of the standards for each category,” said Tabud.
The reports of the regional office will be forwarded to the Ombudsman Central Office that will then conduct another set of validation. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta, Iloilo City PIO/PN)
