Iloilo City Hall back to 5-day workweek

ILOILO City – City government employees returned to the regular five-day workweek schedule yesterday.

They want this setup, said Mayor Jerry Treñas who ordered a four-day workweek in March due to fuel price hikes. The shortened days of work aimed to help employees save money.

The city government also tapped modern jeepneys to ferry its employees from the district plazas (as pickup points) to the city hall and back every day.

But the Resource Employees Association of City Hall (REACH) asked for the return of the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule.

The four-day workweek setup was recommended by the National Economic and Development Authority.

With this work scheme, the city government had hoped to save electricity and less traffic congestion.

“But ang mayorya gusto na nga mabalik kita sa five-day workweek kay amo ni naandan sang aton pumoluyo,” said Treñas./PN
