Iloilo City has 321,000 voters so far

ILOILO City – So far, 321,000 potential voters in this city registered with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the May 2022 polls.

This is higher by nine percent from the 2019 midterm elections’ 294,000 registered voters.

This year’s figure is still expected to increase after the voters’ registration deadline on Oct. 31.  

According to Atty. Rainier Layson, Iloilo City election officer, people lining up in poll offices and satellite registration sites were a “testament para ipakita ang kagustohan nga magpartisipar sa election.”

“Ang target naton 15,000 for one month alone. Sang September nalagpasan naton. Naka-rehistro kita 19,641, on top of the number of people nga na-rehistro naton from January until April this year and sang last year,” said Layson.

Meanwhile, people flocked to satellite registration sites yesterday.

Nagdamo compared sa last two weeks naton sa extension period,” said Layson.

They target to accommodate 1,000 registrants daily.  

Meanwhile, personnel of Police Station 1 and the compliance team of the city government are ensuring everyone is compliant with the minimum health protocols in registration sites.
