ILOILO City – The city government is ramping up its anti-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination by opening various mega vaccination sites to families of employees working in various offices, establishments and households here.
Families who are non-residents may avail themselves of anti-COVID jabs, said Mayor Jerry Treñas.
As of Oct. 18, 2021, the city has fully vaccinated 56.06 percent or 294,324 of the target 525,000 population.
The target population includes 425,000 residents and 100,000 non-residents.
“We have started giving first dose to residents in nine district health centers closer to constituents,” said Treñas.
He was referring to the Barangay Sambag Gym for Jaro I; Balantang District Health Center for Jaro II; Oñate de Leon Covered Gym for Mandurriao; Katilingban Covered Gym for Molo; La Paz District Health Center Parking Area; Tanza Esperanza Covered Gym; and Arevalo Gym across Arevalo District Health Center; and Bo. Obrero Health Center.
Vaccination is also ongoing at mega sites, in villages and in city hospitals.
FREE RIDES
On the other hand, the city government in partnership with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and Ceres Bus Liner will offer free rides for those who want to get vaccinated in the city’s mega sites coming from different points of Panay Island on Friday (Oct. 22).
Ceres buses with a “Libre Sakay” sign will transport those who want to get vaccinated to and from SM City and Robinsons-Jaro (AstraZeneca) and Megaworld (Sinovac)./PN
