Iloilo City to host Milo marathon qualifier

MANILA – For the second straight year, Mandurriao district in Iloilo City has been chosen to host one of the 11 qualifying legs of the 42nd National Milo Marathon this year.

The sixth leg will be held at the Iloilo Business Park on Oct. 7, Milo Philippines sports executive Lester Castillo said.

“Mandurriao served as a great host for the National Milo Marathon Finals last year,” Castillo said. “We are thankful to Mayor (Jose) Joe Espinosa (III) for agreeing to host a qualifying race this year.”

The country’s biggest and longest running footrace will open on July 15 in Urdaneta, Pangasinan. There will be legs on July 29 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds in Pasay City, Aug. 26 in Tarlac, Sept. 16 in Batangas, and Sept. 30 in Lucena.

The rest of the qualifying races will be in Cebu on Oct. 14, General Santos on Oct. 21, Butuan on Nov. 11, and Cagayan de Oro on Nov. 18. The national finals will be in Laoag on Dec. 9.

“The 42nd National Milo Marathon continues to center on the life lessons that runners can learn and take with them beyond the finish line,” Castillo said. “We are pushing for an active and healthy lifestyle for the youth.”

“We are committed to delivering an inspiring season as we highlight the values of discipline, resilience and determination to help our runners be molded into true champions,” he added.

Milo Marathon will also resume its “Help Give Shoes” program where 1,500 pairs of shoes will be donated to deserving school children./PN
