THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will return to Iloilo City for the second time this year for the Visayas leg of the 2018 PBA All Star Games on May 27.
BayaniLadrido, operation head of the event, said the exhibition between Gilas Pilipinas and Visayas selection squad will be held at the University of San Agustin gym.
“Tuloy na ang pag-host ng Iloilo City sa PBA All Stars,” Ladrido told Panay News.
“Fanny and Juanito Uy Foundation agreed to sponsor the event once again to allow the Ilonggos to experience first-hand a PBA All-Star match,” he said.
Among notable PBA players with Western Visayan roots are James Yap of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, Jeff Chan of Phoenix Fuel Masters, Kiefer Ravena of NLEX Road Warriors, Raymar Jose of Blackwater Elite, and Jericho Cruz of TNT KaTropa.
Also from Visayas are June Mar Fajardo and Chris Ross of San Miguel Beermen, Gregory Slaughter and Joe Devance of Barangay Ginebra Kings, Asi Taulava of Road Warriors, and Roger Pogoy and Kelly Williams of Ka Tropa.
For the second straight year, the league is holding three sets of All-Star Games, one each in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The Visayas leg last year was held at the Hoops Dome in Cebu City.
Meanwhile Ladrido said fans may vote for their favorite players to become part of the All Star Games by registering at the PBA website and select five players each from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The voting started on Friday./PN
