ILOILO City – The number of registered voters in Iloilo City has reached 312,317 following a major cleanup and validation of voter records by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in preparation for the Nov. 2, 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
The updated figure came after the Election Registration Board (ERB) completed hearings, validation proceedings, and database consolidation that resulted in the removal of deceased voters, transferred registrants, and questionable voter records from the city’s voters’ list.
Comelec-Iloilo City conducted the ERB Hearing and consolidation process in the Voter Registration System (VRS) from June 1 to 5, covering applications filed during the voter registration period from April 7 to May 18, 2026.
The hearing was presided over by ERB Chairperson Atty. Wil Arceño together with board members Cherie J. Ampig, Iloilo City local civil registrar, and Dr. Ma. Luz De Los Reyes, Schools Division Superintendent of Iloilo City.
Representatives from the offices of Cong. Julienne Baronda and Mayor Raisa Treñas also attended the proceedings.
The board processed a total of 10,356 voter registration applications during the period, subject to approval or disapproval. It also heard objections against 242 registrants whose residency qualifications in their respective barangays were questioned.
After resolving the oppositions and evaluating all applications, the board undertook a consolidation process that included the deletion and deactivation of records belonging to deceased voters, those who had transferred to other cities and municipalities, and registrants found to have double or multiple records through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS).
Records showed that 146 applications were disapproved due to successful oppositions. The board also cancelled 185 voter registrations because of death, deleted 218 records of voters who had transferred elsewhere, and removed one record flagged by the AFIS.
As a result, Iloilo City’s official voter population now stands at 312,317 as of the June 2026 ERB hearing.
All activities were conducted as part of preparations for the 2026 BSKE.
The Office of the Election Officer-Iloilo City, headed by Election Officer IV Atty. Pinky Jevini G. Tentativa, said it remains committed to maintaining a clean and accurate voter database for the upcoming barangay and youth elections./PN
