Iloilo COVID cases hit over 30K

ILOILO – As of Sept. 19, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases here reached 30,150.

Data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed 6,816 or 23 percent of the cumulative cases were active; 22,620 or 75 percent recovered; and 713 or two percent were deaths.

The province was logging an average of 291 COVID cases daily.

The local government units (LGUs) with the highest total cases were as follows: Oton (2,622), Santa Barbara (1,841), Pavia (1,809), Passi City (1,739), Miag-ao (1,203), Pototan (1,201), San Joaquin (1,142), Guimbal (1,072), Concepcion (875), and Janiuay (861).

As to the active cases, the top LGUs were Oton (394), Janiuay (302), Pavia (292), Guimbal (292), Leon (277), Passi City (269), Pototan (259), Lambunao (242), Barotac Nuevo (234), and Sara (220).

Meanwhile, most fatalities were recorded in Oton (62), Pavia (49), Passi City (38), Santa Barbara (32), Pototan (30), Dumangas (29), Leganes (27), Barotac Nuevo (27), Tigbauan (27), and Banate (26).

As to COVID cases by category, data showed that local cases lead with 28,601 or 95 percent; locally stranded individuals – 987 or three percent; returning overseas Filipinos – 402 or one percent; and authorized persons outside residence – 160 or one percent.

Here are the cases per age group:

* less than one year old – 181 cases

* one to 10 years old – 1,742

* 11 to 20 years old – 3,064

* 21 to 30 years old – 6,515

* 31 to 40 years old – 5,506

* 41 to 50 years old – 4,089

* 51 to 60 years old – 3,957

* 61 to 70 years old – 2,668

* 71 to 80 years old – 1,654

* 81 to 90 years old – 713

* 90 and above – 126

For COVID cases by population, as of Sept. 19, the top five LGUs with the highest percentage of population affected are as follows:

* Guimbal – 1,072 cases out of 36,145 population or 2.97 percent

* Santa Barbara – 1,841 cases out of 64,362 population of 2.86 percent

* Oton – 2,622 cases out of 95,246 population or 2.75 percent

* Pavia – 1,809 cases out of 70,388 population or 2.57 percent

* Leganes – 781 cases out of 34,714 population or 2.25 percent

Due to the continued rise in COVID-19 cases in the province, PHO head Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares- Quiñon reminded the public to be more careful.

Quiñon said there’s no need for more evidences to prove that COVID-19 is deadly.
