ILOILO City – Jordan Mintah was all business in his return. He towed Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo to a victory over the Philippine Air Force FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League yesterday at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

Mintah, back from one-game suspension, spearheaded the scoring spree for the Ilonggos with four goals. Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo native Jovin Bedic added another one.

This was the fourth time that Kaya-Iloilo defeated the Philippine Air Force this season after 5-0 rout on June 29, 5-0 repeat on Aug. 11 and 2-1 escape on Sunday.

Mintah set the tempo for the Ilonggo with a strike early in the opening half for a 1-0 halftime score.

He scored two more at the onset of the second half to complete his hat trick.

The Ghanian striker, however, was not yet done. He nailed his fourth goal of the match at the 74th minute with a low strike from a Bedic pass before exiting the match five minutes later.

Bedic then put on the finishing touches for the Ilonggos at the 85th minute with a penalty kick after his teammate Yannick Tuazon was brought down by an Air Force player.

With the victory, the Ilonggos improved to 43 points (14 wins, one draw and three losses) for second place, while Air Force is at sixth with 11 points (three wins and two draws and 13 losses)./PN
