Iloilo netters shine in age group tennis

ROXAS City – Ilonggo netters dominated the Palawan Pawnshop National Age Group Tennis Tournament – Roxas City leg held at the Villareal Stadium Tennis Courts here.

Ilongga Althea Rose Martirez lived up to her top seed billing. She was hailed as the leg’s Most Valuable Player in the girls singles event.

Martirez, a standout of Central Philippine University, claimed the championships in the 16 under girls singles and 18 under girls singles.

Ilonggo John Benedict Santiago, meanwhile, emerged as champion in the 14 under boys singles event.

John Rafael Santiago also netted a crown in the 10 under unisex doubles.

Over 200 entries competed for top honors and ranking points in the Group I tournament serving as part of the talent-search of the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala circuit./PN
