ILOILO – The provincial government recognized the best-performing municipal and city anti-drug abuse councils (ADACs) for their efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, February 10.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias led the awarding ceremony, handing out cash incentives to the top-performing ADACs across two categories.
Category A comprised component cities and municipalities classified up to second class, while Category B covered third to fifth class municipalities.
The winners in Category A (Component City to 2nd Class Municipality) were:
* 1st Place – Passi City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (P500,000)
* 2nd Place – Cabatuan Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (P400,000)
* 3rd Place – Carles Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (P300,000)
For Category B (3rd to 5th Class Municipality), the winners were:
* 1st Place – Dingle Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (P400,000)
* 2nd Place – Balasan Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (P300,000)
* 3rd Place – Anilao Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (P200,000)
Banias conveyed the gratitude of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. to the winning councils for their commitment to maintaining drug-free communities through active collaboration with local chief executives and stakeholders.
“We can make our province drug-free if all of us actively fulfill our official and civic duties,” Banias said.
He noted that in 2023, Iloilo had 14 barangays that had yet to be declared drug-cleared. This number was halved in 2024, leaving only seven barangays undergoing the clearing process.
“We look forward to the remaining seven barangays in three municipalities achieving drug-cleared status through sustained and relentless efforts,” he added.
Banias further emphasized that the provincial government, through the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), remains committed to providing the necessary support to help these barangays and municipalities attain drug-free status./PN
