Iloilo taekwondo jins rake in 26 medals in national contest

MANILA – Taekwondo jins from Iloilo bagged 26 medals on Day 1 of the National Interschool Taekwondo Championships at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Among the medals the athletes from the Mark V. Pinggol stable got on Saturday were six golds, one silver and two bronzes.

Andria Margaret Palabrica and Sophia Grace Go won two gold medals each in girls poomsae, while Geon Van Viene also had two – in individual and team poomsae with Enzo Lucio Cape.

Capturing the lone silver was Samantha Gayle Go in mixed team poomsae, while Cape and Joshua Cachero got a bronze medal each in kyorugi.

Athletes from the A. Diasnes Taekwondo Gym also took home nine medals – three golds, one silver and five bronzes.

Markishi Anthonette Ting captured two golds in kyorugi and poomsae, while the stable’s other gold was courtesy of Love Perillo.

Margareth Anne Aguana had a silver and a bronze in poomsae. Other bronze medal winners were Airon Melvin Aguana, Joy Perillo, Archie Perillo, and Raphael Perillo.

Meanwhile the Taekwondo Association of Passi City took home eight medals – one gold, three silvers and four bronzes.

“We are happy and content with the performance of our players since all of our eight taekwondo jins have won a medal each,” said Passi City Sports Development Officer Randy Palomaria, delegation head.

Karl Ziovhan Batulayan was the lone gold medalist while Allamelech Jannu Palmares, Princess Nefertiri Prado and Marl Wyzen Glaze Batulayan won a silver medal each.

Capturing bronze medals were Leigh Yvaine Cia, Jed Pyro Muyong, Tristan Ramon Gabriel Orozco, and Linmuel Dion Ines./PN
